Prayer Blanket Ministry
Over 250 people have been “Covered in Prayer” since the Spirit of Life Prayer Blanket Ministry began in 2007. Volunteers use their time, talent and material to make blankets for people who are hurting in some way. It may be someone who is sick, a shut-in, or someone who’s going through a very hard time. The blankets are distributed by church staff and other volunteers.
Prayers are said for the person who will receive the blanket as the blankets are made. We collect them throughout the year, and Msgr. Gion does a special blessing after a weekend mass in the fall and again in the spring.
Blankets can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, fleece-tied or quilted using soft material. Please avoid wool, acrylic, or anything scratchy or materials that could cause an allergic reaction. Fleece blankets seems to work best. The sizes are 40 X 50 (most needed) and some 30 X 30. We have Spirit of Life patches available in the parish office to put on the corner of the blanket.
